The Worship Ministry at ZEFC
We
desire to create an atmosphere where all people are drawn to worship in spirit
and in truth.
(John 4: 23-24)
The Bible makes it clear that God
delights in our worship of Him. In fact, according to Jesus, worshiping God is
so much a part of who we were created to be that if we do not worship Him, the
rocks will cry out and do so (Luke 19:40)!
God wants us to worship Him
sincerely with our whole being, in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). The
Bible also contains many examples of people worshiping God through music,
dance, prayer, drama, silence, use of scripture, and speaking of who He is and
what He has done. These examples demonstrate that since the beginning of human
history people have worshiped God in ways that employed the communication
methods and art forms of their particular culture and time. Likewise, we want
to fully embrace the manifest presence of God.
We do this at ZEFC by approaching worship
much the way Christian philosopher Soren Kierkegaard did. He believed that, in
worship, we have an audience of βOne.β Those in the congregation are the
performers; the leaders on the platform are the coaches; and God is the
audience. It is God β rather than any
single human personality β who is magnified.
